Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina

Flat Stanley got to go on a very important trip with Ms. Lewis!  Ms. Lewis was going with retired Carlynton teacher, Mrs. Holzer, to rescue a dog.  Ms. Lewis's mom and friend, Kellie, went along for the trip!  It was bound to be a good time!

The girls & Stanley left Pittsburgh at 8am on Saturday, October 6th.  They were ready for a long drive!

On the way, they stopped in Stanleyville to get gas!  Stanley thought it was the coolest place on the trip!  Stanley was glad to get out the car & stretch his legs for a while!

Stanley & the girls had a great time at the hotel!  They went to dinner at Longhorn Steak House and then went swimming when they got back to the hotel.  The pool was really warm!!

On Sunday, October 7th, Stanley & the girls piled back into Mrs. Holzer's car and set off for Chapel Hill to pick up Jake.  Jake is a 2 year old black lab mix who is blind.  Mrs. Holzer is planning on training Jake as a therapy dog, just like Eddie was, so that he can come to school and have kids read to him!  (I'm sure Jake will enjoy visiting Team Lewis as much as Eddie did!!!!)

On the ride home, we drove past a truck full of pigs going to the butcher!  They were noisy & stinky!  Yuck!  We also hit a lot of fog in Virginia.  It was a LONG trip home, but well worth it!
